Gilbert, it seems that I am one of the last to sign this book, but I don't care. I'm doing it now and thats all that matters. Anyway it sucks that I came to RI for the birth of my first granddaughter and I end up staying for your wake and funeral. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that I miss you terribly. You were a pain in my ass but you were my brother and I'm going to miss your phone calls. Even when you would just call to complain about the many times your calls were ignored by the ones you swore would always be there for you. It was a bit too much at times, but I tried to be there to lend a sympathetic ear. Many times I would tell you that you did all you could for them, now they're grown and if they want to be stupid just let them. But you never gave up trying to rekindled your relationship, which was a plus in my eyes.
Anyway bro, you will forever be missed.
PS. Everyone talks about the many people who loved you and miss you but neglects to mention the three women that never turned their backs on you. I lost count of how many times they would call me to see if you were ok because they could not get ahold of of you, and for that they will always have a special place in my heart. To Gail, Tara and Mary, thank you for being in my brother's life.

I like to thank my family and friends for all their love and support. Unfortunately I lost my brother last week Gilbert Colon I miss you bro. This is to you my loving brother you were not just my brother you were my friend my homeboy. You were like a Father figure to me. The many conversations we had about Dad many cool things I did not know I was very young when he passed. Even though I felt like I never had a Father some way some how you played that role in my life. Whether it was giving me advice or yelling at me when I did something wrong. And When I was having my own issues in life. When I felt alone at time You were always there for me. I miss the voice mails you would leave me when I did not answer. Even though I disagreed with them just the smile on your face when you would hear them made up for it. I love the fact that we always work through our differences. I miss the many nights we had together even if it was on the computer trying to find you as you would say a sugar mama. playing cards or just watching a movie. The nights when I would wake up with you staring at me scaring the living daylights out of me. And your only response was Bro you look like Dad. I miss you bro, You may not be here physical but you are with us in our hearts mined and souls. You are an angel now spread your wings my brother you are free. When you get to heaven give me dad and all of my family a great big hug and kiss from me. You are loved and missed by so many. Rest in peace my brother may God always be by your side. Te quiero mucho hermanito que Dios te me bendigas siempre.

Things weren't always perfect between us but I thank God for putting you in my life. You treated me like one of your daughters and I'm very thankful for that. My dad wasn't much of a father but when you came into my life 20 years ago you had no problem filling his shoes. You were a better dad to me then I could have ever imagined. You will forever be in my heart and on my mind always. I love you so much Papi xoxo. Thank you for all the joy and memories you brought to my life.

Tio Gilbert you are in a better place with Jesus in Heaven. Probably singing and dancing like you used to do with us at our praise parties on Sundays. I know because the last thing you heard was your sister Saida singing you into the arms of Jesus. Into his comfort and his pain free arms. Like you were singing in that video "I'M FREE!" Praise Jesus you are finally free!

Gil, I remember smiling at letters you would frequently send me with sketched images on the top. My favorite was the harvest pumpkin. Always opening the envelopes with anticipation of what’s inside. Your words made me feel like I sat right beside you. Always calling me honey and accepting me as your own. Nice big and warm hugs- wrapping your arms around me and always reminding me to take care of my mother. I looked to you as the role model and male figure I never had in a grandfather. Thank you for being a kind and generous man. You always found a way to bring a smile to my face; even on the grayest of days.

Thank you for the gift of love.

Gil was the oldest of nine siblings. Aida, Evelyn, Eddie, Saida, Angel, Joey, Mimi and me.
I think of life as a journey. Sometimes sailing is smooth and sometimes we hit rough waters. The loss of a brother is especially difficult. Gil, though life's journey has ended, you'll now begin a new journey. A journey of everlasting life. I know that someday we will see each other again. Save a song for me.
Lastly, I want to thank you for that incredible gift you gave us when we were all together visiting with you. It didn't feel like a gift at the time, but as I reflect back on that moment, it truly was amazing. You showed a remarkable amount of courage. We were the weak ones.
Gil, your bothers and sisters will miss you and will always love you.
God Bless!

Gill I will miss you and our conversations where you gave me strength as well as I gave you. Your beautiful singing voice and your laugh which made me laugh. I remember the first pair of heals you bought me against daddy's will heehee... I won't say you're in a better place because a better place would be beside me. I Love you my brother and I'm grateful for the time I spent with you. ❤

I will always be grateful for the good and bad times. I only wish that the mending would have happened sooner. I will always remember the times at Coney Island, how we would raise our hands on the rides. The times I waited for you to come home as a child. I remember running to you and you giving me the biggest hugs. I can rest because I know you are resting in peace.
