Willie Howard Obituary

Willie Henry Howard

January 12, 1937 - October 11, 2025

Willie H Howard beloved husband and father passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 88 on October 11, 2025. Born in Pelican, Louisiana, he was the 5th of 6 children born to Elnora (Thomas) Howard and Blanchard Howard Sr. He attended Desoto Parish HS in Mansfield LA. His brothers Fred and Mac, and sisters Ollie and Laura all preceded him in death. Left to mourn his passing is his wife Rose Butler Howard, son Paul, daughter-in-law Chantell and granddaughter Kendra, sons Travis, Jack and Bradford, daughters Crystal and Phyllis and brother Blanchard Jr. He was also preceded in death by his Daughters Caroline and Robbyn. He worked for decades as a cement mason and finisher and was very proud of the work he did around the Sacramento area in helping to build and develope new housing communities. Always an enthusiastic fisherman, he became even more so after retiring and was well-known around various fishing banks of Northern California. He was always excited about catching large mouth bass but never more so when he was pulling in big crappies which he called "slabs." Willie was a avid sports enthusiast. He loved all sports and was a Denver Nuggets and Broncos fan for life but also enjoyed cheering on the Sacramento Kings and the Rivercats. He enjoyed listening to and following Fred Price of Ever Increasing Faith Ministries and singing old Gospel songs from his childhood.

He will truly be missed by a host of relatives and friends including his Granddaughters,  Grandsons and Great grands who affectionately referred to him as "Poppa" or "Pops".  He was a great neighbor, friend and co-worker. He will be missed so much but will always be in our thoughts and hearts. Take your Rest now Willie.

A special love poem from Rose to Willie:

"His mouth is most sweet, yea He is altogether lovely. This is my beloved and this is my friend."
