Wilhelmina Brown Obituary

Wilhelmina Brown, age 86, passed away peacefully January 1, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. Wilhelmina was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 3, 1933 to the late Benjamin C. Clark Sr. and Willie Mae Clark. She was the wife of the late Isaac W. Brown. Wilhelmina and Isaac were married for 60 years before his passing.

Wilhelmina worked at Rhode Island Hospital for over 15 years before moving on to work at family Services in the Foster Care Division. She also worked as an Executive Secretary to the Dean of Students at Brown University for over 20 years.

Wilhelmina became a member of the Harriet Tillman Temple #59, of the I.B.P.O.E. of Elks Providence, Rhode Island in 1974. Through hard work and dedication, she received honors of Past Daughter Ruler in 1976 and Past State President in 1975. She was a State Officer, Deputy Supervisor of the juvenile Department, A member of Oret LeBorah Liberty Council, Providence, RI and New Bedford, MA and a member of the A. L. Clark and Berth Rollins Police Unit Antlered Guard Department. Wilhelmina received her highest honors in Elkdom in August 1984 as Past Grand Daughter Ruler. Her service in Elkdom was meaningful and allowed her to serve many seats as Daughter Ruler, Vice Daughter Ruler, Assistant Financial Secretary and Trustee.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, James L. Brown, Bob S. Brown and Perry F. Brown, her two daughters, Debra Brown all of Providence, RI and Denyce (Brown) Dodge of Coventry, RI. She also leaves behind four daughter-in-laws. Besides her children, Wilhelmina also leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Annie L. Benjamin, brothers Benjamin Clark Jr. and BJ Brown as well as her children David Brown, Isaac Brown, and Beverly (Brown) Williams.
