Violet Rose Robinson born to the late Arnold Robinson and Eva Adams Robinson, both having migrated from Jamaica, West Indies to Cuba, and then to Panama.
Rose, as she was called, was born December 14, 1934 in Silver City, of the segregated black communities on the Atlantic side of the US controlled Canal Zone, in the Republic of Panama. She graduated from the Rainbow city Occupational High School in the Canal Zone.
She married Benjamin W. Little and they relocated to the United States in 1969, settling in Providence, Rhode Island. Rose attended the University of Rhode Island and received a bachelor's degree in Economics and a master degree in Agency Counseling from Rhode Island College.
Rose worked at Rhode Island College for many years and after retirement she volunteered in counseling one on one at certain homes for while then, she tutored at the Rhode Island Food Bank. She also counseled single mothers at the McCauley Village.
She was a member of Hood Memorial A.M.E Zion while there, she served as a Deaconess, Trustee, and Steward and was responsible for bread baskets for those in need. She was also the Special Projects Manager and grants for the church. She was also on the board of the Dexter Donation Trust for the City of Providence.
As a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, she volunteered with the best group ever, helping in the preparation of all the food, vegetables, etc. for the needy. And with Elaine Isom being there, she certainly kept us on our toes.
Rose is survived by her daughter former State Representative Anastacia P. Williams, her son Rigoberto Cano Little; her grandchildren Lisa M. Williams, Dionne N. Williams, Jonnathan Herrera, Angelo Herrera and Carlita Little.
Her great grandchildren; Hev’n McNeil, Kassidy Herrera, Londyn Ferrara and Swayze Ferrara. Her brother Johnathan Robinson.
Rose is preceded in death by her siblings; Myrtle Hartley, Edna Robinson, Melvin Robinson, Hazel Patrick, Christopher Robinson, and Frederick Robinson.
