Vincent D. Clement of Providence, RI passed away May 14th, 2025, after a prolonged illness related to kidney failure. He fought a good fight, but the battle was not his to win. God intervened and called Vincent home.
Vincent was the son of the late Maurice L. Clement and the late William D. Seals. He is survived by one uncle, Elliott “Tippy” Clement and Elliott’s wife Julia Clement. A daughter Allegra Schell, and was preceded in death by his son, George Holland, both of Providence. Vincent leaves seven biological grandchildren (Jamay Holland, Jarell De Los Santos, Tyliana Vides, Jakhai Holland, Jariah Holland, Dhyanne Holland, and Jaliel Holland), several bonus grandchildren, and great grands as well. He was affectionately called Pop-Pop or Grandpa by all.
Vincent was preceded by three brothers Michael, Robert, and Leroy Clement as well as one grandson, George Holland Jr. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives behind.
He is survived by three cherished friends Pamela Gomes, Elsie “Lumpsy” Jennings, and the mother of his son Ms. Diane Holland, who were ALL a constant presence through his trials, challenges and triumphs.
We must also acknowledge the many brothers and sisters from his Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous communities with whom he spent a significant amount of time with.
A former addict himself, clean for the past 31 years, Vincent made it his life's mission to be of service to others who were trying to find a way to recovery. He was resolute in helping those who faced difficulty on their journey. Vincent was a friend, leader, and champion for the right to find a life of recovery, one person at a time; one day at a time.
Vincent enjoyed traveling to the National AA/NA conventions and attended many global events. Vincent also enjoyed spending the holidays with his family. A few of his favorites were Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter Dinner, family reunions outdoor barbecues, and the yearly Father’s Day event in uncle Tippy’s backyard. His grandchildren held a cherished place in his heart, and he spent time with them- as well as his bonus grands/great grands- whenever possible.
Vincent had a special bond with his friend Henry Vincent Johnson, Jr and held him close to his heart in a brotherly embrace. Vincent will be missed by his family and many friends who knew and loved him.
