Terrence Eugene Marrow passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Rhode Island Hospital on Thursday, May 17, 2018. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cheryl Baker-Marrow (Smith) of Cranston, RI, after 23 years of marriage. Terrence was born in Providence, RI., attended St. Andrews School in Barrington, RI and graduated from Hope High School, Providence, RI., where he played on the high school’s basketball team. He was employed by the Providence Water Supply Board for 23 years, retiring in 2013 and a member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America (LIUNA).
Terrence was a former aide for the political campaigns of Mr. Jonn (Sonnie) Garrick, the late Fred Lippitt, the late Buddy Cianci, and Thomas Slater, State Representative. Terrence was a lifelong and avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. During his youth, Terrence worked with and coached many in the sport of basketball. He loved to cook and was the “top chef” at many social gatherings and cookouts for family and friends.
Terrence gave deeply from his heart and his motto for anyone who would ask was, “Don’t mess with my family or my money!”
Besides his wife, Terrence leaves to cherish him, a daughter Naomi Gonsalves of Providence. RI, his step-son Vaughn L. Baker, Jr of Cranston, RI, who he always loved and cared for as his own; 5 brothers, Joseph Marrow of Boston, MA, Joseph “Pops” Sowell (JoAnn) of Providence. RI, Wayne Hall of East Providence, RI, Derek and Dana Marrow of Haverhill, MA.; 7 sisters, Mrs. Leanna Ligthart (Jelte) of Riverside, RI, Mrs. Karen Holmes (Howie) of Narragansett. RI., Mrs. Deborah Kittelburger (Gary) of Rochester, NY, Mrs. Marion Pina (Joe) of Pawtucket, RI, Miss Joline Marrow and Miss Lisa Marrow of Haverhill, MA, and Jenny Sowell of Providence, RI; 5 grandchildren, Zyheir, Damien, Inah, Aiden and Dezmond who turned 1 year old on the date of his passing. Terrence also leaves a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and other relatives, all who loved him dearly.
Terrence was the son of the late Joseph and Marion Marrow. He was also predeceased by his brother, Joseph “JoJo” Collins and 4 sisters, Cynthia Marrow, Barbara Guzman, Sandra Marrow, and Sharon Marrow.
Terrence was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
