Sheila Ann Jackson
October 22, 1945- January 7, 2025
Sheila A. Jackson of East Providence, daughter of the late Edward Addison Sr.
and Mildred (Henderson) Addison, was born on October 22, 1945 in Pawtucket
RI and went home to be with our Lord on January 7, 2025.
Sheila graduated from William E. Tolman High in Pawtucket. She retired from
the Veteran’s Administration working in many capacities and finishing as a
veteran’s service representative (VSR), in 2005. She currently worked as a
Standardized Patient for Brown University shaping future doctors.
Sheila belonged to Union Baptist Church and served in the Women’s Ministry,
Children’s Ministry organizing youth trips and church lock-ins, and she was a
Sunday school teacher. She was one of the founding board members involved
with the organization of Neighborhood Day, at the Onna W. Moniz-John Park
where she also served as Treasurer of the Board for over 34 years.
Sheila was the founder of the New Circle Club and member of the Altruist Club
and co-founder with her best friend, Vivian Balcom of Sister Friend Creations
started in the 90’s. Some of her favorite activities included playing cards and
organizing tournaments, duckpin and 10 pin bowling, for which she served as
League Treasurer and served as an officer for the The National Bowling
Association (TNBA). She was an avid theater goer and loved to travel.
Sheila is preceded in death by her husband Emanuel (Poochie) Jackson, and son
Jamal Jackson, her sisters Barbara Baptista, Thelma Simmons, Pauline
Occomy, Bernice Blackwell, and one brother Edward Addison, Jr. Left to feel
her loss, she is survived by her daughter Tiombe (Jackson) Royals of Powder
Springs, Georgia and husband DeAndre, her brother Alan Addison of Rhode
Island and step children Carla Jackson, Emanuel Jackson III, Kaii Almeida all
of Providence and sister-in-love Vivian Balcom.
And missing her always, are her grandchildren and step grandchildren, nieces
and nephews, cousins, great nieces, and nephews. She will always be loved and
she will never be forgotten.
