On July 17, 1940, in Zebulon, NC a star was born. The late James Otis Lawrence and late Bessie Perry Lawrence welcomed Rosa Lee Threats Brown into the world.
Rosa had a love for people and bringing them together. If you didn’t attend one of her many functions, you definitely missed a great time. She loved cooking and art. She held yearly festivities from Thanksgiving to the 4th of July. And she always followed up with her birthday celebration like clockwork.
She also enjoyed crocheting from hats and scarves to doilies and baby booties.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, James “Chad” Brown and her son Nelson “Pookey” Threats Jr.
Rosa leaves to cherish her fond memories her 3 children: Evone “Chicken” Threats, Daril Threats and Keith Threats, her sister-in-law: Rleanor “Candy” McSwain, daughter-in-law: Claudia Threats, her 2 bonus children: Ebony Threats and Newton Price Jr. who you couldn’t tell her were just her grandchildren, an additional 16 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Although Rosa is no longer with us in the flesh, we will continue to carry her in our hearts. We will keep her memory alive through our storytelling, food and music. Especially the music with the heavy bass. We will love you eternally. Rest in Heavenly Peace.
