Sunrise: May 21, 1949 - Sunset: May 8, 2021
"God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me”.With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best."
Robert departed his life peacefully at home in Lawrenceville Georgia. He was surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Robert was a devoted partner, father, and grandfather. He spent 42 years of his life with the woman he loved, Priscilla Strong Gidney. He was a father to his daughter Lucinda Michelle Gidney and his son Norman Gidney. Robert was born in Shelby, North Carolina where he pursued a career in the United States Army. Robert also had other ambitions, with that came the love of music at the age of 13 where he formed his first quartet as the lead singer. Being a young child, preaching was something he admired as well. He connected and touched people through his faith and beliefs in God.
Robert then moved to Providence Rhode Island where he began to follow his heart and pursue his career in music. He established himself to become the lead singer of the singing group “Double Quality” from 1978-2000. Robert was a profound song writer and producer where he met new people through his talents.
