Robert E. Mark, 84 of Ashmont Street, Providence, Rhode Island passed Saturday, May 31, 2025, at his home in Providence. He was the husband of the late Ellen F. Mark. Robert was born in Tylertown, Mississippi on August 27, 1940. He was raised in Angie, Louisiana by his late uncle Jessie Brown and aunt Magdalene Brown. He often spoke very proudly of where he came from. He was the son of the late Earnest Jackson, Sr. (Amie) and Ardella (Brown) Peters. Robert was a graduate of the Wesley Ray High School, class of 1959. Robert was an active member of the Wesley Ray Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and Sunday School Superintendent
Robert was employed for 35 years as a correctional officer with the RI Department of Corrections-maximum security. Robert was also a proud Master Mason and 33rd Shriner of the King Solomon, No. 5 Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Rhode Island.
Robert loved the Lord and was an active member of the Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church, serving as a trustee, and always willing to read a scripture during service.
Robert was a very giving man and enjoyed working the garden in his backyard; growing collard greens, tomatoes, peppers, etc.
Robert is survived by his children Robert Harris, Jameela Dunston (Dwayne), Aisha Mark, Donna L. Osborne (Danielle), Renee L. Osborne(Steven), Judith M. Williams, Kevin Sharpe, and Joel A. Osborne (Valerie). His siblings; Barbara Pierce, Mildred Jackson, Lisa Veasey (Ollen), Kara Wesley (John), Lavon Jackson (Geraldine) Mitchell Jackson (Caprees) and Charles Peters. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Christeen Watson and Annie Louise Smith, his brothers, Earnest Jackson, Jr., and Darnell Jackson. Robert leaves to celebrate his memory 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren. Robert was very special to a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and many others that he touched throughout his life.
