Robert Anthony Ivey,48, of Warren, RI formally of Newport, RI passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. He was born in Newport, RI on June 1, 1970. He was the son of June M. (Isom) Ivey and the late Amos V. Ivey. Robert was a Rogers High School graduate, class of 1988. He was on the basketball and football teams throughout his years at Rogers High School. He was a great running back for the Vikings and gained the name Poison Ivy (#22). Robert was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed listening to Bob Marley and Rock & Roll music. He also had a passion for writing poems and songs; giving himself the nickname “Hollywood Superstar”. Robert always had a smile on his face and could recognize anyone from a mile away. He always said hello or talk about the good ole days with everyone he came in contact with. He was employed by several restaurants in the downtown Newport area. Robert loved spending time with his family and friends. Robert Anthony Ivey is survived by his longtime companion, Evelyn Wilbur of Warren, RI, siblings Dawn Ivey and Jonathan Ivey (Kenneth Wyss) all of Kansas, Floretta Ivey of Newport, RI, grandmother Loretta Isom of Newport, RI, Dorren Pruitt (Gregg Pruitt) of New Jersey, Claudia Isom of East Providence, RI, nieces Shavon Freeman (William Freeman) of Riverside, RI, Tahjeana Ivey and Katrielle Hayes of Newport, RI, great nieces Jaylah and Julianna Freeman and host of cousins. Robert was proceeded in death by his great grandmother Lilian Young, aunts Mary Shuford and Madeline Humphries and uncle Robert Young. He will be missed by all.
