In Loving Memory of Polene Laurore
March 16, 1925 – February 7, 2026
Polene Laurore passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at the age of 100 years and 11 months at Roger Williams Hospital at 3:00 a.m.
She was born on March 16, 1925, in Astruc, L’Azile, Haiti. Polene was the beloved daughter of Polisianne Lozandier and Leveque Laurore, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married to her loving husband, Elcinora Nicolas, for 48 years until his passing on December 17, 1999. Polene dedicated her life to her family, who were the center of her world.
She worked as a farmer and merchant, demonstrating strength, resilience, and dedication throughout her life. A passionate gardener, she found great joy in nurturing the land. She will be remembered as a woman of deep faith, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. Her kindness, hospitality, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her.
Polene was the sister of nine brothers—Arnold, Sylveste, Elvert, Lebonet, Genal, Levoix, Oreste, Elrore, and Enelson Laurore—and three sisters, Facile, Elienne, and Joulia Laurore, all of whom preceded her in death.
She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her six children:
Jonel Flias and his wife, Elmitha Lapaix (both deceased);
Polene Nicolas and her husband, Jean Gacin;
Raynold Nicolas and his wife, Josette Brutus;
Renette Nicolas and her husband, Ilien Persona;
Venette Nicolas and her husband, Milcinar Milcette;
and Josue Nicolas and his wife, Murielle Francois Nicolas.
Her legacy continues through her twenty grandchildren:
Olinda Garcin and her husband, Junot Desrosiers;
Rudny Gacin; Erlande Gacin; Steven Gacin and spouse Elite Gacin;
Eddy Samuel Milcette; Vethlie Milcette; Judycaelle Milcette and husband Junior Borgelin; Joshua Milcette;
Andy Hilaire Persona; Alexandra Persona and husband Bendieu Dudis; Anne Cyndy Persona and husband Wilson Fanor;
Sandiana Personna; Jessie Cassandra Stephania Personna; Camesuze Personna; Max Personna;
Jean Bernard Filas; Jean Lubin Filas; Rachelle Filas;
Micaella Joy Nicolas; and Josue Micaiah Nicolas.
She is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren:

Samandie Personna; Sheelandie Malaika Personna;

Andysam Hill Dawens Personna; Yurica Fanor; Kaylee Ann Fanor; and Nyla Faith Fanor.
Her love and guidance will continue to live on through them.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Church of God, 297 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by burial at Swan Point Cemetery.
Polene Laurore’s century of life was a testament to faith, love, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
