Mohamed Fofanah Obituary

In the morning of Sunday, April 14th, 2024, the Lord called to rest, one of his own after accomplishing his service here on earth. Mr. Mohamed Momoh Fofanah was born on October 10th, 1943 to the late Mr. Sinneh Fofanah and Madam Zainab Ya Yeabu Sesay in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone, West Africa. Mohamed and his elder sister Mama Hawa relocated to the capital city, Freetown, where he completed his primary education at the Holy Trinity Primary School at Kissy Road, and proceeded to the Methodist Boys High School at Kissy in Freetown. After completing High School, Mohamed worked at the Sierra Leone Brewery for a year before migrating to Monrovia, Liberia where he furthered his education and later gained employment at the Liberian-American Swedish Mining Company-(LAMCO) in Liberia.
In 1986, Mr. Mohamed Fofanah immigrated to the United States of America, where he trained and got his license to become a Police Officer but opted instead to become a Truck Driver. He was employed by J-LINE Trucking Company at the Wampanoag trail in Massachusetts, where he was very helpful to his co-workers and loved his job tremendously. Ultimately, Mohamed’s ambition and dedication led him to achieve his goal of owning his own trucking business. In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to music, watching sports, traveling, and being with family members.
Mr. Fofanah’s departure leaves a profound void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Marian Vandy Fofanah. Children: Mohamed Fofanah Jr, Abu-Bakarr Fofanah, Youseful Fofanah, Zainab Fofanah, George Fofanah Mrs. Aminata Kanu (Nee Fofanah), Hawa Fofanah, Lansana Fofanah and Kevin David Fofanah. Mohamed was blessed with several siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, a great grandchild, and one adopted son Alpha Sankoh. He is also survived by the Fofanah, Kanu, Kabbia, Vandy, Kamara, Bangura, Sesay, Sevalie-Gborie, Kailondo, Thomas, Cheaye, Conte-Kroma, Margai, Conteh, Dorley and Koroma families, and all members of the Sierra Leone Organization of Rhode Island.
Mr. Mohamed Fofanah was a helpful and kind hearted person who will be remembered for his loving personality and generosity. Throughout his long and blessed life, he remained family oriented and worked hard to share opportunities with his family and friends. Mohamed served his community well: he was a former President of the Sierra Leone Organization of Rhode Island, where he worked to bring his community together. As a pillar of the community, he was admired for his selflessness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will forever serve as a guiding light for us all.
May God grant him eternal rest in glory.
