Marta Alonzo

Marta Aurelia Alonzo, known as "Welly" and "Martita",  aged 84, passed away peacefully at home in Providence surrounded by her family and close friends on February 20th, 2022. She was born in Guatemala on December 2, 1937 to José Oliberto Alonzo and Trancito Hernandez. 
Having relocated her life to Providence, RI she provided for her family working in the city's jewelry factories. Anyone who knew her understood that she never slowed down, even after her retirement she continued to work in her entrepreneurial endeavors as a personal shopper, saleswoman for cosmetics, and cook. 
Marta was preceded in death by her daughter Ofelía Letran. She is survived by her siblings Flavio Alonzo, Maria Alonzo, and Andres Hernandez, her daughters Elvira Alonzo and Alba Hernandez, her eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. 
She was a strong woman and a devout catholic. Dedicating her time to her loving family, friends, and her church, St. Anthony's Parish. She will be laid to rest in St. Anne's Cemetery in Cranston, RI.
