MARIE ELIZABETH WAYE

Marie Elizabeth Waye, 65, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 in Providence, Rhode Island. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 14, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Marie Elizabeth (Jones) Walton and the late Hollie Roy Walton, Sr. She was the granddaughter of Oscar W. Jones and Isabell (Edmondson) Jones. 

Marie attended Central High School, she worked at local jewelry companies and at the Manhattan Tomato Company in Providence, Rhode Island. One of her more fulfilling roles in life was to serve as a foster mom through the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families. She organized, facilitated, and hosted devotional prayer meetings and bible study in her home. She had a love for music and sang at churches in the choir. She created a music ensemble, the Gentle Touch Band, with her younger sister Brenda and often served as the lead vocalist. She loved watching movies at home and was a fan of movies with humor, horror, and the martial arts. She guided and counseled many young people over the years, she was a kind person and a good listener. 

She is survived by her children: Marty Walton, James Walton, Conscena Walton, and Liliana Walton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jadah, Adrianna, Aiyana, Markeith, and Marcellous. In addition, she is survived by her brothers: Hollie Roy Walton, Jr. Willie Walton, and Thomas Walton. She leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn including several beloved nieces and nephews including her niece Marie Walton and her cherished great-nephew Common. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Keith Walton, and her sisters: Brenda Walton, Babbette Walton, and Carrie Ann McCarthy Trammel.
