Marie Elimise Philibert was born on November 30th, 1930 in Leogane Haiti. She became a permanent resident of the United States in 1970. Although she enjoyed the opportunities afforded to her in the United States, she had a deep love for her country. Marie Elimise maintained her ties to Haiti and spent as much time there as possible. Marie Elimise was a women ahead of her time who developed a savvy business sense. Marie Elimise was a merchant and owned a variety store in Port-au-Prince Haiti.Marie Elimise did well for herself and was known for her entrepreneur mindset.
Marie Elimise was resilient and fearless. She had a spirit of a warrior. Marie Elimise had the ability to make something out of nothing. She was known for being feisty and having a no-nonsense attitude. Underneath the tough exterior was a fun and loving spirit. Marie Elimise enjoyed traveling, listening to Haitian music and joking around and laughing with her grandchildren.
Marie Elimise was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Elifia Philibert and Mrs. Delicie Martil of Trouin Haiti and youngest son Fito Leostein. Marie Elimise was an only child. She is survived by her children Yvon (Betty) Aristil of Florida, Evelyn (Yvon) Chancy of Dominican Republic and Anolie (Jean) Calixte of Providence. Grandchildren Joan (Jimmy) Montervil, Patrick (Sokhalay) Silvestre, Jason and Samuel Calixte, Jean Marc Aristil , Yvon Aristil Jr. Priscilla Chancy, Rutven LeClaire and Miriam Murphy. Great grandchildren Semir E Montervil, Aden Ramirez, Skye E Sylvestre , Alex Jean Sylvestre, Ninthtra Yvelise Aristil, Araya Yvonne Aristil, Londine Sky Aristil, Demetrius and Darius Murphy.
Marie Elimise Philibert was the epitome of strength and courage. She was a hard worker and knew how to get things done. She will be missed.
Although her heart is in Haiti Marie Elimise Philibert will be buried at Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery in Warwick Rhode Island.
