Luis Peña Garcia, age 84 of Providence, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Berkshire Nursing Home. He was born in the Dominican Republic on May 18, 1939, to the late Daniel Antonio Peña, Petronila Garcia Colon, and stepmother Aurelia Marcial. Before his retirement, he was a shoemaker and a cook. On his spare time, he loved to take his kids to see wrestling matches in the Dominican Republic and watch boxing and baseball. Luis’ greatest passion, which he was raised doing, was agriculture. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Gloria Peña; brothers, Vicente Peña, Jose Peña, Manolo Peña, Antonio Peña, and Angel Peña; granddaughter Christine Peña. Luis is survived by his daughters Kircia Peña of Bronx, NY, Luisa Peña of Murfreesboro, TN, Crystal Figueroa of Providence, RI, Yudelka Echavarria of Dominican Republic; sons, Luis J. Peña of Murfreesboro, TN, Rudy Peña and Luis D.
