It's with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lois Ann (Silva) Mitchell, who left us at the age of 79 on March 11, 2025. Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Lois was the daughter of the late Joseph Silva and Marion (Ward) Silva-Baker. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edmund Mitchell, and her siblings: Joseph Silva Jr., Thurston Silva, Norman Silva, Livingston Baker, Gregory Baker, Margaret (Silva-Raymond) Shakir, Elaine Baker, and Roxanne Baker. While we mourn their loss, we take comfort in knowing that Lois is now reunited with them.
Lois is survived by her siblings: Caroline (Silva) Corriea, Walter Baker Jr., Lorraine (Baker) Townes, and Diane Baker. She leaves behind her children: Calvin Joseph Mitchell, Curtis Lee Mitchell, Tonya Marie (Mitchell) Jenkins, and Calvin Brandon Mitchell. Lois was a proud mother who poured her love into raising her children, and her memory will live on through them. Her family also includes 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed to know the warmth of her embrace.
Lois had a long and fulfilling career at the Rhode Island Medical Center, where she worked for 35 years, and upon retirement, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Whether spending time with her family, taking care of her beloved dog Scrappy, or visiting the casino, Lois found joy in the moments that mattered most.
Though our hearts are heavy today, we find solace in the knowledge that Lois lived a life full of love, laughter, and purpose. She was a beacon of strength to all who knew her, and her kindness touched everyone she encountered. We will miss her deeply, but her spirit will remain with us, always.
