Juanita M. Winfield was born in New Haven Connecticut to Effie B Smith and her late father Emilio Rivera Sr. She passed away on May 18,2024 surrounded by her loved ones at the Roger Williams Medical Center.
Juanita was well known by many people and she was the life of everyone’s party. To know Juanita you had to know Juanita, all the teachings, the love, and memories she left. She was one of a kind. Anyone who came into her life was known to be family and she had nicknames for everyone!
Juanita was such a beautiful soul who touched so many people and left her mark on all in a special kind of way. Her personality was out of this world and she was always there ready to be a helping hand when needed even if you didn't need her. Juanita always jumped right in whether she knew you or not a true zem perfectly hand picked from God.
Juanita leaves her husband, Marvel Winfield, three daughters, Teneka Garnetto, Malinda Winfield, and Asia Winfield, sons Mark Smith and George Morgan, step son Richard Taylor, step daughters Yana, Tene, Keisha, Kimberly Poston, Sondra,and Darnella Pompey.
She also leaves her sisters Angelique Smith and Samatha McDade, brothers Emilio Rivera and Jerry McDade, brother in law James Lee, seven step brothers and five step sisters.
Juanita will be deeply missed by her seven granddaughters Darchelle ,Ny’Lasia , Na’Jalise, RaJhelle, Ri’lleigh, Lucille, and Denyelle, ten grandsons Xavier, Rashaad ,James , James, Walter, Quadir, Jovani, Deyquan and John, and four nieces DaJuana, Indea, Evelyn and Rosetta, one great niece, Zyonah, four nephews Darrell, Emilio, Naszarine and Kevin, son in laws John Garnetto and Rodney Thomas, daughter in law Angel Soares, nieces and nephews who she called family and the love of her life and long time companion George Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her son James Rivera, step father Jerry W. Smith and grandson Rasean. She will be missed by everyone who loved her.
