Joyce Bullock Mitchell Obituary

Joyce Lorraine Bullock Mitchell of Leander St of Providence, RI was called home on Monday June 8, 2020 surrounded by family and friends.

Joyce was born on September 2, 1963 in Brooklyn NY. Joyce graduated from the Amos House with a certificate in Culinary Arts. Joyce went to URI to then become a cook. Joyce loved to cook and loved people. Joyce fulfilled her career dreams by becoming a cook at Harrington Hall feeding the homeless.

Joyce was every woman along with cooking but singing was her passion. Joyce loved to sing dress, design, sew, read, and write literature. Joyce was offered to publish a book. Joyce’s voice could be heard miles away. Many times when she would walk in a room she would enter singing, hugging, kissing and looking like the movie star she was. Joyce was a phenomenal seamstress. Her unique talents allowed her to coordinate her own wedding. She sewed the beautiful garments that she wore upon marrying the love of her life on February 14, 2016 to Byron Mitchell. 

Joyce loved family first and was the greatest Auntie ever. Joyce held a special trophy spot in all her nieces and nephews' hearts. Everyone loved Auntie Joyce. Joyce embraced all with her kind, loving and warm heart.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father Daniel Majett, sister Michelle R. Bullock and brother F. Jermaine Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory  husband Byron K. Mitchell, mother Ruby J. Bullock-Jones; Sisters Adrienne Jackson (husband Godfrey) of Charlotte NC, Diane Majett of Providence RI; Brothers Daniel Majett of Providence RI, Edward Jones of NY, NY, David “Da-Wud” Jones of West Virginia and Vincent Scott of Providence RI; Step-Children Byron and Charmaine Johnson; Grandchildren Giovanny “Pooch”, Jai’moni “King, Jesse Dulin, Lexi, Tynesha and Byron III, 12 Nieces, 24 Nephews, 12 Great Nieces, 18 Great Nephews & 1 Great Nephew; 3 sister in laws Tyra Jordan, Donna Hill-Scott and L. Shlonda Davis- Jones; Best Friend Shelia Edwards and  a host of Aunts, Uncles, Family, Friends and Loved Ones.

Joyce will be in our thoughts every second, day and minute. Joyce legacy will continue to live on.
