Jose Severino Obituary

José A. Severino of Providence, RI passed away on December 4, 2022 at age 71. José was born in Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic to Lorenza Correa Severino and Lalo Severino on January 21, 1951. He came to the United States in the 1970s and worked hard to ensure that his family members had the same opportunity to immigrate here. He successfully helped many of his siblings and family members join him in the United States over the years ensuring they had housing and helping them find work. He worked for Health and Human Services at the State of Rhode Island for more than 20 years and was actively involved in the Dominican political and social community in RI. He served as a mentor, friend, and father figure to many people in his family and in the community.

José is preceded in death by his parents, Lalo Severino and Lorenza Correa Severino, as well as siblings Ana, Isidra, Marino, Mario, and Irma Severino.

José is survived by his wife, Alma Perez, whom he deeply loved, and his three children, Danika Severino Wynn (spouse Joshua Wynn), Zackary Severino, and Elliott Severino (spouse April Severino) as well as his grandchildren, Soleil Wynn, Sky Wynn, and Xavier Wynn. He is also survived by his siblings, Carmen, Mariano, Enrique, Epifanio, Eusebia, Cornelio, Severo, Herminio, and Luis Severino. He is loved and respected by many nieces and nephews here and in the Dominican Republic as well as dear friends who he loved like family members.

The family of José wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Humera Khurshid and Dr. Solmaz Behtash as well as to their teams at the Lifespan Cancer Institute and at Oak Street Health. We are forever grateful for the years of good health José enjoyed because of their care. We also extend thanks to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice for the dignified end of life care they provided to José.
