James Snead, 95, A Steady Presence, A Lasting Impact
James Snead, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, closing the chapter on a life defined by the kind of dignity that doesn’t announce itself but is deeply felt. Born in Providence during the Great Depression to Cushion and Marcia Snead, he learned early the value of hard work, independence, and standing firm in his beliefs.
James was a man of few words who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—the patience of tending a garden, the sharp clarity of well-earned wisdom, and the occasional bet, because despite his practicality, he knew some risks were worth taking. He was not one for sentiment, but his love was unwavering, measured in the way he always showed up for his family.
For nearly seven decades, he and his wife, Beverly, walked side by side until her passing last summer. Together, they raised seven children in a bond nurtured not by grand gestures but by shared purpose.
James was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy, and is survived by his children Terry, George, Kenneth, William, Phillip, Marcia, Eric, and Donald. His legacy continues through more than fifty grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
