Irene F. DUFFY, of Pawtucket (formerly of North Kingstown and Warwick), Rhode Island, passed away at Miriam Hospital, Providence, Rhode Island on December 23, 2021. She passed away peacefully.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband George Duffy in 1987, North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
Jim, Irene's longtime boyfriend and Irene shared many past times together including shopping at Home Depot, the Emerald Square Mall, Market Basket and many others. This included beautifying the yard with all kinds of pretty flowers Jim and Irene bought together.
Irene loved to decorate for all the holidays and never missed a one at home or at the cemetery decorating for those who had already passed! She loved of all kinds of flowers, but especially Roses and Carnations! Her Philodendron in her bedroom has been growing for years and trails around the whole top of her bedroom and dropping towards the floor at this point.
Irene had one son, Arthur Gaskey, of Florida, whom she thought the world of. Son Arthur, Significant other Sue and Irene spent time together just weeks before her passing going out shopping and having dinner out. She had a fun time and was looking forward to many more. Two of her favorite past times - shopping and food out!
She was a very kind and caring person never giving it a thought when helping others in need including people she met on her path to shopping. She worked early on at Carlart Flowers, Reservoir Avenue in Cranston, Rhode Island for many years. She worked some of Rhode Island's jewelry making facilities that in their day sold to the world (Rhode Island was the jewelry capitol to the world decades ago).
She was a beloved babysitter to two small children at a point who adored her and she them. Some very fun days for her.
Irene was a greeter for JC Penny and WalMart in her later years. She loved talking to people and liked most any one she met! It was a job she was well suited to.
Her love of handbags and shoes knew no end! She had class and style in her youth and still carried herself with class and style and then some into her older years!!!
She also loved to dance and did so for many years at the Oak Hill Tavern in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, in spite of never having ever had a drink of beer or liquor! Extraordinary to say the least! She will be sorely missed by all of us who already miss and love her!!!
She had many niece's and nephew's that she thought the world of and enjoyed taking out especially beach days that they all enjoyed.
