Eliza Walker Obituary

Eliza Mae Walker, 80, affectionately called and known as“CANDY” was called to her heavenly home on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the HopeHealth  Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island surrounded by her daughter and family.

Candy was born and raised in Lawrenceville, Virginia to the parents of the belated, Mr. Theodore Roosevelt Penn, Sr. andthe belated, Mrs. Dorothy Mae (Battle) Penn.

At an early age, Candy joined Zion Union RZUA, in Lawrenceville, Virginia where she completed her education in the public school system. Later, she joined the work field at the Craddock-Terry, Inc. (Shoe Factory).

On September 23, 1961, the belated, Robert L. Davis and the belated Eliza Mae were married in holy matrimony at Charlie Hope of Brunswick County, Virginia and to this union one daughter was born, Della Davis.

On October 29, 1976, the belated, Thomas Montgomery Walker and Eliza Mae were married in holy matrimony and relocated to Providence, Rhode Island with their daughter, Della. Candy later joined New Life Community Church where she served as an Usher until the church closed. She worked for over fifty dedicated years at  Cable Electric, the Jewel Case,  and the Rhode Island Bureau of Investigation Security (RIBI) where she retired.

Candy was a fun, loving, Mother, Nana, Great-Grandmother,God-Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was the life of the party at every gathering where she enjoyed cookouts, holidays, dancing, birthdayparties, traveling and meeting new people. She was a strong and firm mother to all walks of life. As she would say, ”I said what I meant and meant what I said,” “Where there is a will there is a way,” “I pay the cost to be the boss!” She will be missed but will remain in our hearts as she rests in Paradise.

Candy leaves to cherish her memories: her dearly beloved Daughter, Della Davis, Providence, Rhode Island; Grand-Daughter, LaCreasha Davis, Grand-son; Shi-Quan Davis,(Khalai), Great-Grand Daughter; Amani Jones,; Great Grand-Son; Jermaine Jones, all of Providence, Rhode Island; One Sister, Mrs. Elnora P.
