Eddie L. Searight Sr.

Eddie L. Searight Sr. 88, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, after a brief illness.

Mr. Searight was born in Sandry Ridge, Alabama on October 21, 1937, to the late Wilbur Searight Sr. and Marie (Perry) Searight.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years Gloria (Speaks) Searight, siblings Irene Fleeton Myers, Walter James Fleeton, Olevia Fleeton
Kempt, Fletcher Fleeton Jr., Josephine Searight Promise, Jessie Mae Ruth Paire, Wilbur Lee Searight Jr., Ralph Ennis Searight and Lois Searight.

Mr. Searight attended Our Mother of Sorrows and Biloxi Colored High School. Mr. Searight joined the United States Navy after school. He served as a Boatswain Mate
aboard the USS Wasp and the USS Constellation. Mr. Searight or SeaPop as he was lovingly called, was fond of saying, “I served for 3 years, 9 months, and 28 days.” He
was known for his humor, biting wit, and sarcasm. He was also known for delivering wisdom and life lessons in his own unique and pointed way.

SeaPop was an avid sports fan. He would spend hours watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He was also a fan of Providence College and Georgetown University
basketball teams. While watching games, SeaPop would deliver his own brand of colorful commentary. Prior to his retirement, SeaPop worked for the Providence School
Department as a custodian, Aide Maintenance and Delta Dental..

SeaPop is survived by his siblings Mini Gill and Loyce Searight;his children: Eddie Searight Jr.(Micki), Edward Cooley (Nurys), Rita Searight-Dillon, Corey Searight, and
Cynthia Searight (Antoinne); his grandchildren: Ayanna (Searight) Barnett, Julius Searight, Dianna-Maria Searight, Aminah Searight, Isaiah Cooley, Olivia Cooley, Quincy
Searight, Maverick Searight, Savannah Lawson, Kennedy Lawson, Gianna Lawson,
Ryan Lawson and great-granddaughter Solana Jean-Marie Searight.
