Donald Osborne Obituary

DONALD MATTHEW OSBORNE, SR, USAF RETIRED, 91, of Providence passed away peacefully with family at his side, Sunday February 7, 2021 at Hope & Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence.  He was the beloved son of Clarence J. Osborne, Sr. and Wanita M. (Lindsey) Osborne.

Donald was a 22 year veteran of the USAF, serving during the Korean and Vietnam conflict, with the rank of SMSGT.  He graduated from Hope High School, and attended Johnson & Wales University (Summa Cum Laude).

After retirement from the USAF, Donald was employed by the City of Providence to manage the troubled Chad Brown/Admiral Terrace public housing complex; because 0f his excellent skills in management, and great rapport with the residents the complex showed much improvement.

Donald later accepted a position with the Boston Regional Office of IRS, serving 15 years as their Director of EEO. After being in his second retirement for a few months, Donald was called again to help his community.  The East Side Apartments, housing for the elderly needed a manager.  Donald came to the rescue, promising to stay for 1 year; he stayed for 11 years, and was known as the manager the tenants loved.

Donald was an entrepreneur, owner of Osbornes Limousine Service, and sponsor of many community activities, i.e. Little League, and bowling. He was an avid bowler, bowling his first 300 game when he was in his 70s.

He was a Lifetime member of the Lt. Armstrong-Gladding American Legion Post #69.

Donald is survived by the love of his life, Luisa G. (Rosario) Osborne, sons Donald M. Osborne, Jr., and Michael J. Osborne. He was predeceased by daughter, Donna Louise Osborne.   Donald leaves four grandchildren, Charlayne, Luiza (CA), Kyle (Brian), and Patrick (Kristen) MA; two great grands, Xavier and Harrison, who he adored.

The second child of twelve, Donald was brother to Joel Osborne (Carmen), PA, William Osborne (Cindy), CA,  Jennifer Davis (Jeff),  and Jeffery Osborne (Sheri), CA;  7 deceased, Clarence J. Osborne, Jr., Richard Osborne, Jacqueline Gray, Janet Gray, Joan Green, Judith Walker and Jeanine Liggins.

He will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.
