Diane Marie Sylvia, age 78, of Cranston, passed away peacefully in the late evening hours of Wednesday April 12, 2023.

She was born Monday, February 19, 1945 in Providence, a beloved daughter of the late John and Helen (Tillinghast) Forsberg.

Diane was preceded in death by her brother, John "Jackie" Forsberg Jr. and three of her four children, George "David" Sylvia, Paul Sylvia, and Melissa Sylvia.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Sylvia, as well as eight grandchildren;

Laura Goodinson, Stephanie Sylvia, Cheryl Santana, Sarah Chirino, Daniel Truman, Joshua Truman, Joseph Sylvia, and Christopher Sylvia.

"Gi-Gi" was a great-grandmother of four; Seth Hayes, Elijah Santana, Leelah Hayes, and Christian "CJ" Chirino.

She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Professionally, Diane held various positions helping others, and was employed by companies such as Home Loan Bank and Travelers Insurance.

During Diane's retirement, she was an avid member of the Cranston Senior Center, enjoying meals and outings with her fellow retirees and friends

As the Matriarch of her family, Diane's smile shined brightest while surrounded by her family during gatherings and holiday occasions. She took great pleasure in shopping for the best bargains, as she selflessly made purchases for everyone she loved. She always seemed to know what her family needed; she was an intuitive, kind and thoughtful woman.
