Daisy Castillo Méndez (1942-2025)

Con profundo dolor y un amor inquebrantable, la familia de Daisy Castillo Méndez anuncia su triste fallecimiento el 11 de noviembre de 2025, a la edad de 83 años.

Daisy nació en Michael el 19 de enero de 1942. Hizo de Providence, Rhode Island, su hogar, donde construyó una vida plena dedicada a su fe, su familia y la alegría. Como devota católica, su fe guió cada uno de sus pasos, manifestándose en la bondad, calidez y generosidad que compartió con todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

Encontraba gran alegría cocinando para sus seres queridos, bailando al ritmo de su música favorita y compartiendo momentos preciosos con su familia y amigos. Daisy también disfrutaba de placeres sencillos como visitar los casinos y jugar a la lotería, actividades que siempre le iluminaban el rostro.

Daisy fue precedida en la muerte por sus hijos, José A. Popa Castillo e Iraida Urízar.

Le sobreviven sus hijos Carlos C. Popa, José A. Popa Jr., y Miguel A. Popa. Además, deja un legado de 20 nietos y 5 adorados bisnietos, quienes fueron la fuente de su inmenso orgullo, alegría y amor a lo largo de su vida.

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that the family of Daysi Castillo Mendez DePopa, age 83, announces her peaceful passing on November 11, 2025. Daysi was born in Moca, Dominican Republic, and made her home in Providence, Rhode Island, where she built a life filled with faith, family, and joy.

A devoted Catholic, Daysi’s faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in the warmth, kindness, and generosity she shared with all who knew her. She found immense joy in cooking for her loved ones, dancing to her favorite music, and spending time with family and friends. Daysi also enjoyed the excitement of visiting the casino and playing her beloved scratch tickets — simple pleasures that always brought a smile to her face and a sparkle to her eyes.

Daysi is predeceased by her beloved children, Jose A. Popa Castillo and Iraida Urizar, whose memories she carried in her heart always. She is survived by her cherished sons, Carlos C. Popa, Jose A. Popa, and Miguel A. Popa. She also leaves behind twenty adored grandchildren and five beloved great-grandchildren, all of whom brought tremendous pride, joy, and love into her life.

Daysi’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of family. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

“Never take family for granted, for once they are gone, the love and laughter they brought can never be replaced.”
