Danette was born in Norwich, CT and was of Shinnecock Indian, Nova Scotian and Polish descent. She worked as a US Postal worker before receiving a degree in nursing at CCRI. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the respiratory unit at Rhode Island Hospital before retiring. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters, Denice McDonald, Cynthia Ausby and Leticia Ortiz and her sons, Sean McDonald and Sharif Fairweather. She is the sister to the late Bertha Wilson and is survived by her brothers Reginald Scott and Lloyd Gray. She was married to the late Carl Fairweather and the late James McDonald. She also leaves, to mourn, her 20 grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. Danette will be truly missed for her great sense of humor, her compassion, and her willingness to open her home up to anyone that needed a place to stay. Her smile warmed so many hearts. Danette was loved by so many people. She will be deeply missed. We want to give Danette the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes.
