Catalina Canales

Catalina Canales, 89, of Johnston, RI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 10, 2023.

Catalina was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Jesus Canales and Tomasa Contreras. She came to live in Providence, RI in 1971 with her children where she remained until she moved to Johnston in 2018. 

Catalina leaves behind to mourn her memory her daughters Virginia Soto of Johnston, Maritza Rivera (Mariane) of Providence, her son Roberto Adorno of Johnston, Maria Canales of North Providence, Mayra Canales of Johnston, her only granddaughter Mayra Soto-Johnson (Arthur) of Johnston and great grandson Adonis Soto of Johnston. Also to mourn her countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she considered family. 

She was predeceased by her sisters Antonia Sanchez, Mercedes Galindez, her daughter Martha Franco and her grandsons Israel and Eduardo Franco and her great grandson Tomas Antonio Soto-Johnson.

Catalina was a strong matriarch and loved her family deeply. She will be missed by all who knew her.
