Bernice Emily Blackwell 1935-2023 Deaconess Bernice Emily Blackwell, daughter of the late Charles Buckner and Mildred (Henderson) Addison, was born on December 5, 1935 in Pawtucket RI and went home to be with our Lord on May 6, 2023. Bernice was educated in the Pawtucket School System. She worked at many different jewelry companies. She moved on to be a household engineer. She mainly took care of and raised different children. One particular family to this day, consider her as their mother. For the last few years, she worked for the Providence Public School System in the Grandma Program. Bernice belonged to Union Baptist Church and served in the capacity of Deaconess, Trustee and Hospitality Ministry. She belonged to the New Circle Club and Altruist Club. Some of her favorite activities included 10 pin and duck pin bowling. She loved to cook and bake wonderful desserts and has lovingly fed so many. She is preceded in death by her husband Thurman Blackwell, her sisters Barbara Baptista, Thelma Simmons, Pauline Occomy and one brother Edward Addison, Jr. Left to feel her loss, she is survived by her sister Sheila Jackson of East Providence and her brother Alan Addison of Saigon, Vietnam. And missing her always are all of her nieces and nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, as well as Robin Kolb and Richard Wagner who she embraced as her children. She will always be loved and she will never be forgotten.
