Barbara E. Christopher

Barbara E (Fletcher) Christopher RN 94, of Warwick RI passed away peacefully at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol RI.   She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary E (Mitchell) Fletcher.  Barbara was born on January 20, 1927 in Providence, RI.  She was also predeceased by her brother Gerald Fletcher and a nephew Gerald R Hill Jr.  

Barbara was an active member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Providence RI for many years and enjoyed serving on the Samuel Paige Usher Board, singing in the Senior Choir and looked forward to Bible Study each and every Wednesday.  She was also a member of the Kitchen crew known as “Mazyck’s Angels”. 

She attended the Providence School system graduating from Central High School. She started her nursing education in Cambridge Ma at Holy Ghost Hospital where she received her LPN Degree. Barbara continued her education at RI Junior College and onto Roger Williams College where she graduated and receive her RN Degree.  Barbara was employed by the RI Medical Center as a Charge Nurse Supervisor for over 30 years. 

She also enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, quilting, restoring antique chairs by caning method, traveling abroad and monthly luncheon at restaurants throughout Rhode Island with long time friends for many years.  She loved her animals, her dog Princess and her cat Pepper. 

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Elsie Hill, who is 101 years old, also her nieces, Edith Hill and Elizabeth Reid (Aldwyn) her Great Nephew Robert Alves Jr (Nyeasha) and a Great Niece Leisha Nicol. She leaves a host of Great Great Nieces and Great Great Nephews. 

Her loving spirit touched many lives and she will be missed by family and friends.
