Arthur William Lawrence

Arthur Lawrence, 99, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones in Providence, RI on Friday, October 9, 2020.  He was the husband of the late Ruby (Hodge) Lawrence.  He was born on December 24, 1920 in Wake Forest, NC to the late Macon, Sr. and Rosa (Ragland) Lawrence.

Arthur worked at Electric Boat/General Dynamic for many years before retiring.  He was a Deacon and Church Treasurer at the Church of God and Christ Jesus for many years.

Arthur was a very hard working man.  He found enjoyment in fishing, working on cars as well as collecting and building model cars.

Arthur leaves three daughters, Doris Allen and Marjorie Goode both of South Carolina, Deborah Nealy of Providence, RI and one brother, Macon Lawrence, Jr. of Providence, RI.  He will be remembered by his 27 grandchildren as well as a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

Arthur was preceded in death by his sons, Charles Lawrence, James Lawrence, Bobby Lawrence; daughters Delilah Walker, Felicia Lawrence and Donna Lawrence; his brothers, James Lawrence, David Lawrence and sisters, Ada Kilgore and Ida Mae Shoemaker. He will be missed by all who loved him.
