Altagracia Vinas

Altagracia Vinas “Tati”, a life-long resident of Providence Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024 surrounded by family at the age of 73, after a long battle with cancer. 
Tati leaves behind her loving husband Roberto I. Vinas; her three daughters, Johaly Vinas, Tatiana Ramirez, and Ingrid Franco; Five grandchildren, Jonah Vinas, Jereth Morales Vinas, Allison Vinas, Jeyden Morales Vinas, and Jereleen Morales Vinas. She is predeceased by her father Paulino Sosa, and her mother Flor Lopez. 
Tati was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She graduated from la Universidad Autonoma of Santo Domingo (UASD) with a technical career in laboratory. She also studied Cosmetology and previously worked as a hair dresser. She married the love of her life, her forever companion and devoted husband Roberto I. Vinas, on December 30, 1973. The two remained inseparable, honoring their vows “till death do us part”. Tati immigrated to the United States in search of the American dream in 1982, where she worked various jobs until she was able to bring her husband by her side. In 2001, Tati opened a home daycare in Providence, caring for friends and family children, until her retirement in 2015.  
Tati was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved cooking and having friends and family around. She was a quick-witted problem solver, who often looked after her family and extended a helping hand to whoever needed it.  She loved to travel, especially to her native home the Dominican Republic, where she would spend time with family. Tati will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. Her love, her strength, her smile and resilience will always be in our hearts, like thousands of stars in the sky.
