Alexander Stewart Obituary

The benevolent Alexander Stewart, often called Alex, was born on October 16, 1970 in the beautiful country Liberia that resides along the coast of West Africa. Prior to his unexpected departure on June 10, 2024, at the age of 53, Alex had lived in America for many years, primarily in the state of Rhode Island.

Alexander was blessed with an enormous family and an even larger set of friends. A nickname he had among them was “Mr. President” with how well known he was. He is survived by his father James D. Stewart, his children; Aiyana Alexis Stewart, Anjay Curtis Alexander Stewart, his siblings Betty D. Wright, Helena Stewart Turkett, Rudolph K. Stewart, Samuel Stewart, Rosetta Stewart, Victoria Barclay, Seth Stewart, Louise Brown, Fatuu Stewart, and many more family members that loved him. He was preceded in heaven by his mother Lorpu Kamara and his Uncle Harry Stewart.

After earning his master’s degree from Johnson & Wales University, Alex worked almost 17 years at Groden Network, providing support to people with autism, neuro-developmental disorders, and related behavioral issues. Through the years, Alexander enjoyed playing sports (mostly soccer), fixing computers, playing little games like 8-ball pool and scrabble, helping put together programs of all sorts, and spending time with his family and friends.

Alex was a deeply beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. To many, he was their rock, a jokester, a technical wiz, master of ceremonies, a teammate, dependable, and so much more than any words can describe. Just like the meaning of his name, Alex was always there to assist anyone who needed it. He carried around such a huge and warm heart for everyone he encountered (even after three heart surgeries) and asked for nothing in return. Those whose lives he has touched will forever radiate with his love.

Alex’s wake will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th of July 2024. The following day, July 6th, 2024, will hold the funeral service at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by the burial at Swan Point Cemetery right after. The family would appreciate any flowers, thoughts, prayers, and memories you may share for our wonderful Alex.
