Agnes Coleman (86yrs) passed away peacefully at home on August 1,2025. She was born in Harlem, New York to the late Eddie J Smith (aka “baby”) and Elsia P Smith (aka “pos”). The family later moved to Newark, NJ. In 2000 Agnes relocated to Providence, RI to be near her daughter. She worked at Providence College in the Alumni Dining Hall for over 20years. She enjoyed working with her coworkers and was fond of them. Agnes was known for her quick wit, humor, and “tell it like it is” attitude. She loved listening and dancing to salsa. If salsa music was playing you would see Agnes dancing. She was not shy about it. She enjoyed taking trips with her daughter and visiting family. Agnes was the matriarch of the Smith family who will be greatly missed and remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers (Donald, Alton, Jay, Virgil), companion (Jack).
She is survived by her daughter Donna Coleman (Providence) and son in law Alex, cousins Estelle Thomas /Jewel Gaines (New York), Christine/Burlie Frink (Maryland), Princess/Mardy (New Jersey).
She leaves to mourn her nephews and nieces in California, friends, and coworkers.
