Thelma J. Waters, 84, of Woodman Street, died on Monday, November 11, 2019 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center of Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late Allen Waters Jr., Mother of Allen R. Waters and Valerie D. Bento.
She was the daughter of the late George E. Harris and the late Thelma (Murray) Harris. Sister of Claudette Thomas, Elenor White, and Norma Walker, preceded in death by Elaine Johntson, Marjorie Brooks, Charlene Jones, and Kenneth Harris. She is survived by six grandsons, four granddaughters, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Thelma was born in Providence, RI, on May 16, 1935. She was a graduate of Central High School. She spent 24 years as the Payroll and Benefits Administrator at the Mary C. Wheeler School in Providence, RI. Upon her retirement sixteen year ago, she became the caregiver of her husband until his death in 2006. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed attending her grandsons play sports. She was a strong believer in education and mentored her grandchildren, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She most enjoyed spending the holidays with her family, especially Christmas, often splurging on her grandchildren to make their holidays bright. Very generous and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She will forever be loved and missed by her friends and family.
