Sonny James

Sonny James, 54, passed away on July 1, 2019 peacefully at the home of his cousin Patricia Watts in Fayetteville, NC surrounded by his Aunt Ruth James-Watts and his cousins. He was the husband of the late Joyce Porter-James.

He was born on April 9, 1965 in Providence, RI to the late Irvin “Sonny” Pona and the late Beatrice James also of Providence, RI.

Mr. James was an entrepreneur and had worked at various jobs prior to his last job, as a car wash attendant at Finest car wash.

To know Sonny was to love him inside and out. He always knew how to make you laugh with his jokes and sense of humor. He also loved to cook and would post all of his dishes online.

Sonny leaves a host of family to cherish his memories including, three daughters Sasha James, Sakiesha James and Krystal Parker of Providence, RI, two Sisters Vanessa James of Providence, RI and Bernadette Steward of Milwaukee, WI, two Brothers Adrian James of Providence, RI and Steven Pona of Arizona, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers the late Walter, Charles and Christoper James, his grandparents the late Lillian James, George James and Claira Spring all of Providence, RI

He will be missed dearly by all.
