Robert McCauley Sr.,80, of Providence, RI went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with his loving family by his side on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Mr. McCauley was born September 8, 1938 in Durham, NC. He was the son of Robert McCauley and Martha Spears.
After suffering a stroke in 1969, at the age 30, Robert graduated from Johnson and Wales University, with a Bachelor’s degree, in 1973. He worked at Hoechst Celanese, where he was a Forman and retired after 20 years of service.
He was a faithful member of Allen AME Church for over 50 years and served on several boards, as well as serving as a Sunday School Superintendent. One of his great joys was serving as an adult Sunday School Teacher. He had a vast knowledge of the Bible and loved to share it with whoever would listen.
He leaves two sons, Robert McCauley Jr. and his wife Cynthia and Raymond McCauley and his wife Lauri; 2 daughters Theresa McCauley and her partner Glenn Wilkens all of Providence and Charlyce Lewis of East Providence; 1 brother, Marshall Spears and 2 sisters, Mary Louise and Kay all of North Carolina. He also leaves 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McCauley; daughter, Barbara McCauley; three sons, Richard, Ronald and Michael Bento; and his brother Richard Spears.
He will be missed by all.
