Llera Angelina Russell, 49, of Johnston, RI passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 after a long illness. She was born on May 29, 1970 and was the youngest of ten children. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd A. Russell, Sr and Betty Jean Thomas.
Llera was born and raised in Providence, RI. She was proud of her Native American heritage and was tribal medicine woman for the Northern Narragansett Indian Tribe of Rhode Island. Her tribal name was Turtle Dove, and she chose the name Fire Woman in her capacity as medicine woman. She was skilled in native bead work and was an expert at crochet.

Russell of Providence, RI and Forrest A. Russell of Fall River, MA, sisters, Bonniejean C. Russell of West Warwick, RI, Lorraine A. Russell and Sherry L. Russell of East Providence, RI and Abby Russell of Providence, RI. She was preceded in death by sisters Jeanne M. Russell and Betty Jean Russell, Jr.
Llera will always be remembered by her kind and caring heart, witty sense of humor, artistic talent, and unconditional love. She enjoyed spending time making crafts, laughing with her close friends and family, playing with her beloved cats, and spreading joy to everyone around her. Llera's compassion, strength, creativity, and beautiful personality will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to meet her.
