Kathryn “Kat” Love
Kathryn entered into eternal life on December 30, 2018
Kathryn was born on August 28, 1935 in Sardis, MS to the late Nettie Mae (Byers) Love Smith and Ernest Love, Sr. She grew up in Sardis and attended Sardis Pubic Schools. After graduation, she began to pursue her dreams. She resided in Buffalo, NY for several years before making Providence, RI her permanent residence.
Kathryn’s work ethic was impeccable. There was no job, large or small, that she couldn’t handle. She worked at Loutitt Cleaners in Providence, RI for 26 years and later obtained a position at Rhode Island Medical Center in Cranston, RI where she worked for more than 15 years until her illness led her to retirement.
Upon retirement, her brother Robert Earl Smith and nephew Justin Lopez provided the care that she needed to continue her daily activities including whatever needs her life encompassed.
Those who knew and loved Kathryn knew she danced to the beat of her own drum. She was truly devoted to family and friends throughout her lifetime. Kathryn was an avid card and game player, she loved soul music, bus trip to the casinos and weekend excursions to Atlantic City.
She was a member of the St. Martin DePorres Center where she often attended to associate with friends for laughter and activities.
Besides her parents, Kathryn was predeceased by her brother Ernest Love and sisters Erma Williams and Annie Sue Love.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Louise Ratliff of Melvindale, MI, Esther Price of Warwick, RI, and Robbin Smith McFadden of Newport News, VA; two brothers, Robert Earl Smith of Providence, RI and Marvin Love of Memphis, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
