Freeman Anthony, 90, born September 11, 1928 in Lorado, West Virginia to Cornelius and Eula James Anthony (deceased): passed away on August 28, 2019. Freeman resided in Rhode Island for 69 years. He worked as a caregiver at Parkside Nursing Home and Miriam Hospital for over 40 years. Freeman served in WWII as a gas and oil man where he received a Victory Medal and Army of Occupational medal in Japan.
He prided himself on being dependable among family and friends; be it a listening ear, comforting story teller, or financially assisting. You could always count on him. He is loved by many.
Freeman is survived by a son Richard Freeman Fontes (Crystalia) of Delaware, 1 Stepdaughter Noreen Alves (Providence), 2 granddaughters Nakishia Cephas (Delaware), Shirleyanne Cephas (Delaware), 2 great grandchildren Daevona and Lamaris Cephas (Delaware), 2 Grandsons Dondi and Micheal Alves, a god daughter Lynn Kearney (Providence), a special friend Ilene Stroble, and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Freeman was preceded in death by the love of his life Althea Elderkin, his brothers Henry Hardy, Lewis Anthony, and Peter James Anthony, and sisters Sarah Robinson, Mary Rios, and Lula Harris, as well as a special nephew Alphonso Anthony.
