Ellen F. (Brown) Mark, 79, of Ashmont Street in Providence, Rhode Island passed Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Providence, RI. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 5, 1939. Ellen was the daughter of the late David C. Brown and Frances T. (Prout) Brown.
She was a loving mother and the wife of Robert Earl Mark. Ellen was a graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island. She worked as an administrative assistant for the John Hope Settlement House for almost 25 years and did administrative work for the late John F. Cardoza at the Bell Funeral Home.
Ellen was actively involved in her community for most of her adult life up until she became ill. Ellen loved the Lord and was an active member of the Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church up until her passing. At Allen, she served on many ministries, but her favorite was as Directress of the Richard Allen Chorus, which she did with much praise and worship.
Ellen loved her family and would open her doors to anyone who needed a hand. She enjoyed cooking and feeding people, and most of all her family.
Besides her husband Robert, she is survived by her daughters Donna L. Osborne, Renee L. Osborne, Judith M. Williams, Jameela A. Dunston, and Aisha T. Mark, her sons Joel A. Osborne and Robert Harris, her sisters, Phyllis Cantrell, Jean Isom, Ruth Berry, and Meredith Connors and her brother Robert Brown. She was preceded in death by her brothers Leroy Prout, Fredrick Brown, and Eric Brown. Ellen leaves to celebrate her memory, 24 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild. Ellen was also the bonus mother to Kevin Sharpe, Darrell Taylor and Rev. Leslie Papp, III. Ellen was very special to a host of nieces and nephews and many others that she touched throughout her life.
She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
