Christopher S. Rodrigues

Christopher Sterling Rodrigues, 34 of Middletown RI died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Newport Hospital. He was born January 21, 1983 in Boston, the son of Michelle Rodrigues of Providence, RI and Shelby Purvis of Boston, MA. He leaves a wife, Haydee (Laporte) Rodrigues and son Eliezer Ruben along with a sister, Savon Rodrigues, four brothers, Curtis Rodrigues, Antione Rodrigues, Ryan Deignan and Steven Brine and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Growing up, Christopher and his family regularly attended Providence Baptist Church on the city’s North End lead by Michael Sokol, the Pastor who also facilitated Christopher’s wedding ceremony in Newport on September 19, 2015. As an adult, he continued his walk of faith and solidified his dedication to The Lord through water baptism on November 29, 2009 at New Life Worship Center in Smithfield RI. Christopher was a man dedicated to family, fiercely loyal and selfless with his time and possessions. His unique sense of humor brought everyone down to earth. He had a love for art, poetry and the outdoors and a strong sense of pride in his Native American roots of Cherokee and Cree. His passion for the martial arts brought him to Team Santos Fighting Academy in Providence where he trained in mixed martial arts for 2 years before entering his first official competition and winning first place medal at the Naga Tournament at Twin River Casino. Christopher often made fun of his own height, but carried himself like the tallest man in the room and today he is. He will be dearly missed.
