Every couple of years I would wonder where Speaks was and what he was up too. We were in the Air Force together, Security Police School, Roommates at Goose Air Force Base, then on to Wyoming and Vietnam at the same time. Lost touch after that but never forgot us kicking ass in cards and that old saying of his " I laugh, joke, sometimes smoke, take a little dope, talk shit, sometimes spit, but I don't play, so listen to what I say" There weren't many that favored a white dude and black dude hanging out together but that's something we never gave a shit about. I will always remember you Speaks and I wish I could have thanked you for being my friend. Rest in peace buddy. love ya, Russ

OMG, I just found out. I'm so sorry for missing this man. You were my idol on that dam job when I started, I hope I lived up to the standards, Your friend and brother member of the revolutionary forces. I'll see you on the other side for a drink and game of chess.

I was a good friend of Bernards from first grade to Hope high in the years between the early fifties to 1966. I went in the Air Force as Bernard did in 1966 and lost contact with him. He was a great friend growing up on Smith Hill and I know it is a little late but I send my deepest sympathies.

Junior was in my training class in 1975 at the ACI. More than just a fellow officer, he was a good friend and someone I admired for his strong constitution and professionalism. It's been awhile, but time and distance has not faded my memories and affection for him. I wish his family nothing but the best.

Cousin, I am thankful for the times by the grace of God we did share at some of our family gatherings and working together during the times I could at the Indian Council.
I will keep the good times in my heart. May your soul rest in glory. -
