Mark Henderson Canavan aka “Unc or Uncle Mark” was born in Fall River, MA. to the late Dorothy Christian & Martin Canavan on February 3, 1942. Mark was a Narragansett Indian.
Mark enlisted in the Air Force & served 3 ½ years, then served 33 ½ years in the Army Reserve leaving the Army as a Staff Sergeant. After leaving the service Mark worked for RIPTA as a bus driver before retiring from the work field.
Mark was a happy go lucky guy always hitting on woman. He loved talking to women, always talking about his younger days and how he was a lover.
When Mark became ill and unable to care for himself, he was blessed to get a family to take care of him by being there for him to yell at you with that loud TV blaring in the background, or getting upset with you cause you are not doing what he wanted you to do, then waving that arm like he used to, and laughing with you and telling endless stories and jokes; Parker, Audra, Meme, Daryl, Ziggy, Quay, Kaieema Poppa, Ethel & Joann, thank you for your service.
A special thanks to all the CNA’s & Nurses that cared for him. Although Mark was ill he still had his wit about him. Mark’s last days was spent at home surrounded by the ones he loved, where he peacefully went home to be with the Lord.
Mark leaves to mourn his passing, his family “The Gadson’s” & many friends near and far. Farewell friend you fought a good fight.
