Gilbert A. Colón

Gilbert A. Colón, 68, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island. He was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on May 11, 1948. He was the eldest son born to Francisco Colón and Angela Nieves.

Gilbert is survived by his children as well as many other family and friends who will dearly miss him.

In the words of Gilbert Colón:  "Subject: I Ask Myself: Why do people cry at weddings, hospitals, wakes or burials. I can only guess. So I will try to answer my own question: People cry at these events for different reasons. Most are valid and some are not. Some people cry just to be noticed. Others cry out of guilt. The guilty cry because it was too late to say you are sorry for the grudge you held towards that person when it no longer mattered. But most people are crying when they show how self contradicting they are, showing two sides to their character. When they go online and preach what they don't understand, and condemn people for their mistakes without condemning themselves for their own. I have never hated anyone and I never want to experience it. So maybe these criers should look into his or her heart and remember that only God is perfect and we are only human. We all have been hurt or lied to or let down, but in Jesus own words, "Let's all love one another" Lesson learned, Amen" ~ Gilbert A. Colón
