Elmer "Beansy" W. Allen

Elmer W. “Beansy” Allen, 92, passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital on Thursday, April 20, 2017 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the husband of the late Mattie C. (Jones) Allen. He was the oldest of 12 children born to the late Howard Allen and the late Miley (Perry) Allen.

Elmer was involved in the Labor Movement as a Union Steward in Local 1199-New England Health Care and Local 134-SEIU. He was a long-time member of the Olney Street Baptist Church in Providence, RI.

He was a Veteran of the US Marine Corp serving Honorably as a CPL in World War II in South Pacific, Saipan, Okinawa.

To cherish his memory, Elmer is survived by his loving daughter Denise Browne, his grandchildren Derrick, Micaela and Dayna Browne, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, all of which will forever cherish his memory.

Other than his parents, wife and siblings, he was also preceded in death by his only son, James H. Allen.

"A private homegoing will be held on Wednesday, April 26 for immediate family and close friends."
